Mark.Nine brings a great set of tracks to the table. Very reminiscent of BoC, Mark.Nine utilizes breakbeats over washy synths that create a perfect mood for chilling out. This style could be called ‘inspirational breakbeat’. Artificial Horizon contains fifteen tracks that sort of fade into and out of your head, instilling a flying feeling. Very interesting for the detail oriented type, this is one of the best finds in quite a while.

Foolk – Bleep Bleep
A new ep from Foolk has been released. Foolk, formerly known as Foolcut, does a sort of hip hop / breakbeat / jazz thing thats difficult to describe. You just have to hear it. This ep brings three tracks of energetic electronic music to your ears. More organic and flowing than his previous release, but still in typical Foolcut style, the basslines fit perfectly with the almost glitched out synth / sample work. Track one, Bleep Bleep, sounds almost like a reworking of Royksopps ‘Eple’. Next is ‘Space Blues’, a chillout track with rap vox over it. Sounds perfect, I only wish I knew what the lyrics were. Or what language for that matter. Apologies in advance if they aren’t family friendly. The last track is a live version of Gorillaz ‘Clint Eastwood’.
All in all, this is a great release, especially combined with the previous one.
Thanks to Ladybird for sending me a note about this release.
Psychomental – Soulscapes EP
Six tracks of awesome classic trance! Psychomental does trance and does it well. If you like to move, then here is three quarters of an hour of nonstop beats and synths that will get your feet on the floor and moving like theres no tomorrow. Hmm, this will be perfect for my trance powered planetary propulsion system…
Pseudo-Jazz
A new track from me. A vaguely jazz like piece with some e-piano and guitar, stand up bass, chilled out drums etc. Enjoy.
A new track from bahgheera
Finally after the longest creative dry spell in my own personal history, comes something halfway to being finished. I just grabbed random objects on / near my desk and started banging. Quantized most of it, then added some glitch effects near the end and basnoo – glitched out stomp style rhythms.
Two coffee mugs on my desk tapped with pencils;
Tapping pencils on the edge of my desk;
Coin dropped on top of giant pretzel can;
20 oz Sun Drop bottle;
Pack of business cards being fanned;
Tapping top of giant pretzel can;
Drumming end of GIANT cardboard tube I found at work;
DIDJERIDOO!!!!! Homemade didjeridoo from a metal pipe, again found at work.
Enjoy.
Singing Crane – The Rising EP
Singing Crane has released a five track ep of his signature style electro. A mixup of breakbeats, trance, and decidedly eerie synth sounds take the listener on a moving trip through the cosmos of the mind. Beats that keep the listener paying attention mingle with classic synth sounds and an assortment of audio textures that tie it all together. Singing Crane also has a flash player at his site with lots of his other music. Check him out, and let him know what you think at The FLipside, a forum that he runs dedicated to the worlds greatest music production software, FL Studio.
Arturo Garces – My Sound
Whew! It’s been a while since I posted, summer has been very busy. At any rate, here’s Arturo Garces with a very nice set of minimal dance tracks. Deep sounds and beats with just the right amount of swing will get you moving. Or at least snapping your fingers. Look for the third release from the top of the page.
Schilli-San – Smooth Situations
From the German net label Sofasound comes Schilli San. Smooth Situations is indeed what this release is all about; it doesn’t get much smoother. I once heard that if the mirror inside the hubble space telescope was scaled up to the size of the Atlantic ocean, the imperfections would only be a couple thousandths of an inch high. Thats how smooth these seven tracks are. Jazz influences combine with slightly glitchy drum tracks and acoustic instruments are mixed with synthesized instruments and samples that drive the whole thing home. Smooth Situations is a don’t miss release.
Equivallentium – Unexplainable
From the Stretching Spaces netlabel comes Equivallentium with fifty five minutes of fast paced drums and classic synth sounds. I’m not sure if this is breakbeat or hip hop or techno or what, but it is definitely worth a listen. BTW, to find it you need to scroll about two thirds of the way down the page; it’s listed as ‘STRETCH017’.
