The Bentones – Beer On The Tracks

The Bentones sound like exactly what they are – five guys sitting around in the yard playing their instruments. The ensemble consists of two guitars, two mandolins, and an upright bass. Picking an assortment of songs including covers of some well known tunes, the Bentones have the sound of a garage bluegrass band. Because, well, thats what they are. Check them out!
Woops! No updates for 11 days? What’s wrong with me… busy busy busy. So anyways, FL6 is out. There is much clangor over at the looptalk forum. It’s pretty slick, I must say, the new plugins are great. I had a problem with DirectWave, but that may be because the soundfont I tried to load was around 300 MB, heh heh.

Raz Mesinai
Today, we have not an album for you, but a collection of free tracks from multiple albums by a guy named Raz Mesinai. Not sure how to classify the style, it’s sort of drum and bass meets classical and eastern. Throw in a healthy dose of breakbeats and weird vocal samples and there you have it. Great big breakbeats meet obscure samples from 60’s pop music. I wouldn’t classify this as dance music, but it definitely has that ‘groovy’ feel.
Drunken Gunmen – Deep Space, Distant Future
A dash of Hearts of Space, a pinch of industrial, and a generous helping of pure weirdness. I suppose this could only be classified as Ambient Experimental Space Rock. Maybe? These guys are definitely worth a listen.
