Very mellow ambient electronica. The compositions in this release are astounding. If you like Boards of Canada then you are going to love Orange Crush. Moving pads swell and fade with subtle melodies fading in and out.

Cie – Bonbon E.P.
A house ep that doesn’t disappoint. Clocking in at just under thirty minutes, this is a release that pushes all the right buttons, and scratches that techno itch in just the right spot. Track number five has got to be my favorite techno track so far this year, if for no other reason than the wobbly synth that goes crazy at about 3:40, jumping back out of the way just in time for the relentless beat to come back in.
I Am The Architect – 11
From the Lost Children netlabel we have I AM THE ARCHITECT. Post rock, but with a pop edge to it. Lots of catchy melodic goodness on this solid half hour of music. IATA has a lush full sound, with many more instruments than you usually find in the standard post rock fare. Synths, piano, flute, strings, orchestral instruments adorn each track perfectly. They sound a bit like Muse, with no vox. These four fellows stand out in the world of post rock, so definitely give them a listen, then let them know what you thought on their myspace.
Mark.Nine – In Memories
Mark.Nine blesses us again with five tracks of his typical light and airy ‘ambient breakbeat’. The first track opens up with a wavering pad and a sci-fi audio sample that suddenly give way to a slow chill-out breakbeat and bassline. The rest of the EP follows suit, leaving us with a quiet and thoughtful feeling.
Part Rocket – In Limine
From the Lost Children netlabel comes Part Rocket with their release In Limine. Five tracks of chilled out post rock make an enjoyable half hour listening experience. Part Rocket likes to create huge builds, dischordant soundscapes and lots of ‘wall-of-sound’ type experiences.
Thanks to Marvin @ Free Albums Galore for pointing this release out.
Charts and Maps – Enemies of C.Frias
Ugh, it’s been too long. I’m done with work for the year though, so I’ll get some music posted in the next few days. To start off with, here’s Charts and Maps with their release Enemies of C.Frias. It’s four tracks of a sort of art / jazz / rock type of sound, hard to classify really. They are all over the chord scale on every track, almost to the point of experimental music, but the songs remain structured and have just enough edge to make it a worthy listen.
StillStream Radio
Hi folks. Sorry for the loooong time between updates… I’ll try to get some more music searched out and posted here pretty soon. I’ve been SO busy what with my company going out of business and all. I’m changing career paths now; I’ve decided to exit the marine industry the way a 1980’s communication satellite exits orbit – screaming down from the sky in a blaze of flame and smoke.
So, musically here’s what I have for you today. StillStream Radio, a net radio station, plays all sorts of ambient music, 24 / 7. It’s great for background noise while you’re being creative, or to fall asleep to. When I say all sorts of ambient music, I mean ALL sorts. From the website:
– Soothing light ambient
– Ambient mood music
– Impenetrable dark ambient
– Berlin-school electronic ambient
– Challenging experimental ambient
– Futuristic ambient noise
– Powerful tribal ambient
– Cinematic symphonic ambient
– Expansive space music
– Textural abstract ambient
I didn’t realize all that even existed. So enjoy some ambient sounds, be creative, and check back here in a few days – music is on the way.
bahgheera – Space Cops
Here’s a stupid track I made to go along with a video. Fast paced corny techno, it’s really something I just did real quick and doesn’t even feature things like composition or creativity, but apparently, according to several people its a pretty hot track. So…
EDIT: And here is the video:
3epkano – Selected Tracks
3epkano is an eight piece band from Ireland that does cinematic / soundtrack pieces. It’s a nice break from the standard postrock – this is post rock with a more mature, intelligent sound, post rock the way only the Irish could do it. 3epkano is definitely unique, incorporating violin, cello, and other instruments among the standard fare of guitar, bass and drums. They offer eight tracks on their website, for a whopping total of an hour and fifteen minutes worth of music. Each track tells its own story, each one has its own personality – this one sedate and thoughtful, that one a bit rowdy, and of all of them, the track Faust stands out the most. Starting out quiet and introspective it cuts loose near the end with a noisy rock composition that moves your body as well as your mind. 3epkano gets 5 stars in my book.
A Hawk In The Heavens – The Glow And The Approach
A Hawk In The Heavens, from my home state of NC by the way, brings us a single twelve minute track combining two works. AHITH fits the post rock / shoegaze genre, with a dreamlike melodic overture that leads us to an equally languid, droning piece that can put you in a trance if you’re not careful.
