I noticed a technique over on Digital Photography School Forum where someone had taken a photo of a building and mirrored it in an odd way to give the impression of some sort of strange construction. I just had to try it. These are some buildings in downtown Wilmington, NC that I tried this technique on.

John Wesley is the guitarist and background vocalist for the band Porcupine Tree. On his website, he’s offered five studio albums and a live session for download. Lunar – Wall Of Sound
Remember Lunar? Another stunning release has been issued forth from the brain of Lunar. His last release, Hybrid Awaken, was top notch and the follow up is only better in every way. Wall Of Sound has everything – ethnic instruments blended with electronic beats and synths, staccato rhythms and minimal basslines mix it up with orchestral strings, piano and electric guitar. This release is such a melting pot of different styles but it still boils down to one style and that style is simply Lunar.
Altus – The Elements
Fire, Water, Earth and Air. The four elements, as described by Altus’ excellent electronic compositions. There are four cd’s worth of material in thirty two tracks here, so get ready for a long listen. Moving atmospheric synths, piano, and orchestral instruments detail various aspects of the natural world, and take you inside each element. Almost minimal in composition, but very moving. Includes printable artwork for each cd.
Visual Acoustics
Here’s an interesting toy to play with: a visual interface for creating music. Purely an improv tool, Visual Acoustics gives you several ‘brushes’ to paint a canvas with. Each brush is associated with a different instrument, such as strings, guitar, piano, stand up bass, and others.
I found that the strings and flute sound really great to start out with. This should hold your attention for at least a few minutes, anyway.
Mark.Nine – Artificial Horizon
Mark.Nine brings a great set of tracks to the table. Very reminiscent of BoC, Mark.Nine utilizes breakbeats over washy synths that create a perfect mood for chilling out. This style could be called ‘inspirational breakbeat’. Artificial Horizon contains fifteen tracks that sort of fade into and out of your head, instilling a flying feeling. Very interesting for the detail oriented type, this is one of the best finds in quite a while.
Gas – Microscopic
Coming in at almost ten minutes, Gas brings us a moving downtempo track. Solid synth work with lots of reverb and delay carries us along over a well-chilled beat through a trip in the ambient zone.
Foolk – Bleep Bleep
A new ep from Foolk has been released. Foolk, formerly known as Foolcut, does a sort of hip hop / breakbeat / jazz thing thats difficult to describe. You just have to hear it. This ep brings three tracks of energetic electronic music to your ears. More organic and flowing than his previous release, but still in typical Foolcut style, the basslines fit perfectly with the almost glitched out synth / sample work. Track one, Bleep Bleep, sounds almost like a reworking of Royksopps ‘Eple’. Next is ‘Space Blues’, a chillout track with rap vox over it. Sounds perfect, I only wish I knew what the lyrics were. Or what language for that matter. Apologies in advance if they aren’t family friendly. The last track is a live version of Gorillaz ‘Clint Eastwood’.
All in all, this is a great release, especially combined with the previous one.

Psychomental – Soulscapes EP
Six tracks of awesome classic trance! Psychomental does trance and does it well. If you like to move, then here is three quarters of an hour of nonstop beats and synths that will get your feet on the floor and moving like theres no tomorrow.
