Surbahar – Gopal

GopalSurbahar (the artist, not the instrument) has released two tracks for us to enjoy. The first, Gopal, is a mellow, dub like ambient electro piece that is sure to chill you out. Next up is Radesha, a guitar laden instrumental with plenty of ethnic percussions and breakbeats that move on into an ethnic vocal to keep you interested all the way through. Surbahar brings an excellent release to the table, be sure to check out his previous release on the same net label.

asombria – Base II

asombria - base IIA poppy electro album. Great vocals and great techno music combine to make this a great album for dj’s to spin at the club or for jamming out in the car. Don’t play it at work unless you want all your coworkers to drop what they’re doing and get down and boogie.

Quote of the day

We are a nation that has a government–not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the Earth. Our government has no power except that granted it by the people. It is time to check and reverse the growth of government which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed.

Four Wheel Drive

AmeliaSo I got this Jeep Cherokee a few weeks ago. It’s great – we can drive right out on the beach with it. 95 Jeep CherokeeWe had the best family time in quite a while this past Saturday. CaraIt’s so much better to just drive right up versus parking a half mile away and lugging all your gear down to the water. AmeliaThe girls had fun playing in the sand and water. It was Amelia’s first time at the beach, by the way. Cara picked up lots of shells and Amelia, well she tried to eat sand. But at least she had fun doing it. There will be much more of this sort of thing going on this summer, thanks to the Cherokee.

Milhaven – I.M. Wagner EP

I.M. WagnerMilhaven is such a great find for me. I don’t know what you’d call this type of music, but it’s the same as The Big Sleep and Brian Jonestown Massacre. I think this is called psychedelic or some such. At any rate, this release is so outstanding, I don’t even know where to begin to describe it. The first three tracks are ten to fifteen minutes long, almost like mini rock symphonies. The compostitions are excellent, and the recording / production has this low quality atmosphere to it, which really brings the music straight into your head. This is great music for chilling out with, a relaxed type of vibe but it grabs you and doesn’t let go until track 4, a mellow acoustic piece which is a perfect way to end the set, as if it were letting you go gently. Definitely give Milhaven a listen; it’s my first find of the year so this will be a hard act to follow.

BTW, Happy New Year everyone!
