Matsue 2014

In 2014 I spent about a month in Matsue, Japan. There is an island in the lake there that is a photo spot. Lots of people try to catch the island as the sun sets directly behind it. I was there one day and I noticed all the photographers lined up attempting to capture the perfect sunset photo. I realized that the photographers themselves would be a great subject for a photo. I approached one gentleman and asked if I could take his photo. I really wanted a candid photo of him photographing the island sunset, but I had no way of explaining this. He ended up with a huge grin looking right at me, and it turned out perfect. It’s still one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken.
