Slow – Strange Dreams

Though ambient is not normally my thing, there is enough motion here to keep my interest all the way through. Strange Dreams is a release that is light and airy at times, dark and heavy at others, but guaranteed to relax you when listened to properly. Fourteen tracks clocking in at just under one hour, this release features plenty of details to keep your attention focused, even going so far as to include vocals in some places.

Starting out with a beautiful and moving ambient texture, the Colonial Spa EP weaves a sonic tapestry of aural textures backed with subtle well timed beats. It’s a 25 minute walk down a road less traveled, with an occasional stop to visit an old friend along the way.

Phvsr – Bassment

Phvsr offers us four tracks of well produced house music. Clocking in at just under half an hour, this release does what house music should do – get you moving. Good synth work, big fat square basses and grooving drum patterns all fit together snugly. I’m a big fan of beat drop outs and drop ins and syncopated basslines, and Phvsr definitely delivers with this release.
